Fires Directorate

Who We Are

The Fires Directorate is one of eight directorates within the United States Army Operational Evaluation Command (OEC). Headquartered at Fort Sill, OK; team members are dispersed across five geographic locations—Fort Sill, OK; Fort Bliss, TX; Huntsville, AL; Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD; and Colorado Springs, CO.

Our greatest strength lies in our integrated team of military personnel and government civilians. The ATEC Campaign Teams lead and manage all test and evaluation activities, ensuring seamless execution from planning through reporting.

  • Military Professionals: Composed of elite field artillery and air & missile defense NCOs, warrant officers, officers, and Army acquisition officers, our military personnel serve as the operational backbone and premier subject matter experts (SMEs) and leaders.
  • Army civilian professionals: experienced professionals comprising test and evaluation officers, engineers, physicists, computer scientists, mathematicians, and operations research and system analysts. This workforce is heavily comprised of retired service members and veterans. They provide vital continuity and highly specialized technical expertise.

What We Do

The Fires Directorate plans and executes continuous evaluation campaigns for the Army’s critical offensive fires, defensive fires and strategic missile defense systems. By leading complex test events and synthesizing rigorous data, we deliver objective, unbiased assessments that inform senior leader acquisition and fielding decisions.
